CHEEKY & ORNETTE
These are two of the first group of chickens we adopted in 2016. Cheeky is still living her best life here on the farm, despite her now being vision-impaired. Ornette died suddenly of an unknown ailment in late 2023, not long after his mate, a barred rock hen named Marge, passed away suddenly, also for reasons unknown. I know, it’s sad. Farm life is like that sometimes, unfortunately. But having photos and paintings around of the dearly departed is comforting.
Cheeky is an “Easter-Egger,” a mutt breed of hen that lays pastel-colored eggs. her eggs are a beautiful light shade of blue. Ornette was a Rhode Island Red.
On the Waterfront
This painting imagines Carl and Archie, cats who were born in our backyard in Red Hook, Brooklyn, as old-timey dock workers. Carl now lives at the Greenwich Village Animal Hospital in NYC, and Archie lives with us in Kutztown, PA.

Pig the Pug In Birthday Finery
Created in honor of Grey Muzzle Manor, a non-profit organization in a beautiful farm setting that provides animal-assisted psychotherapy, senior dog rescue & hospice care, and community outreach. Pig the pug is one of their permanent residents. It's a wonderful place--if you ever pass through Eastern PA, I recommend scheduling a visit!
